About Our Music Director

Paul Harding

Paul Harding has been Organist and Choirmaster at Grace United Church since 1968. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Queen's University in 1973 and the degree of Bachelor of Education in 1974.

Paul taught Music in Athens and Gananoque from 1974 to 2001, when he retired to teach privately.

Paul has been active on the music scene in the Kingston area as a rock musician, accompanist and musical director for four decades. Actively involved in musical theatre, he has been musical director, pit musician and composer for more than 30 musicals, both amateur and professional.

Paul was honoured to receive the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for community service in 2002.

Anna Basten

Anna Basten has had the pleasure of directing the Gananoque Choral Society since 2011, until she took maternity leave. She has a Bachelor of Music from Queen's University and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University, and has been a teacher with the Upper Canada District School Board since 2008. Anna has been involved in many different musical endeavours over the years, including work with the Brockville Operatic Society, Dreams in Motion, The Thousand Islands Playhouse, and many other community groups, choirs, and bands. She also enjoys acting as Music Director/Organist for Christ Church, Gananoque, and The Church of the Redeemer, Rockport.
